Chickies Rock County Park in Lancaster is situated between the boroughs of Columbia and Marietta and is the county’s second largest regional park. County commissioners began acquiring this property in 1977, and it has since become one of their most prized possessions for residents around Lancaster, Pennsylvania to enjoy. When the American Indians wanted to name this place, they looked at abundance. They found that there were many varieties of crayfish living here, so they called it Chiquesalunga, which means “place or hither-to the crayfish.” With its numerous vistas and varied natural features, Chickies Rock County Park is a beautiful destination for visitors from all over.

What’s the best thing to do on a hot and sunny day? Visit Chickies Rock, of course. This huge outcropping stone towering 100 feet high offers beautiful views that will take your breath away. You can see everything from York County into Marietta while also being able to enjoy some countryside living at its finest with plenty of farms around for miles upon miles in either direction – what more could you ask for than this one scenic location alone?

If you’re looking for an outdoor experience that is challenging and breathtaking at the same time, take the 14-mile Northwest Lancaster County River Trail. The route begins at Columbia Crossing.
