Lancaster Attorneys for Traumatic Brain Injuries and Concussions Aggressively Pursue Maximum Compensation for Injury Victims

Concussions have become an epidemic in the United States, with millions of mild traumatic brain injuries happening each year. Another 10 million Americans are living with brain damage, and 1.4 million new cases of traumatic brain damage happen every year. These types of injuries can be caused from hard hits in sports, from falls on the job or on a commercial property, and often, from the impact of a motor vehicle accident.

Whatever the case may be, if you suffered a head injury, it is crucial you receive the medical treatment that will give you the greatest chance of recovery in a timely fashion. These types of treatments often result in mounting medical bills that can change the dynamic of a family forever. Due to the nature of a head injury claim and the interaction of different insurance policies, many times, victims of head injuries do not get to the healthcare providers they should, or they do not get to them quickly enough.

If you or someone you know is suffering from a concussion or traumatic brain injury, it is critical to contact a personal injury or workers’ compensation attorney immediately! Brain injury claims are complex and intricate, and our experienced attorneys at Georgelis, Larsen & Sabatino Injury Law Firm, P.C. have consistently earned excellent results for our clients who have suffered head injuries.

Our attorneys and paralegals vigorously pursue the compensation that is rightfully yours, in order to cover your medical costs and make sure your lost wages, past, present and future, are reimbursed.

We also skillfully build your pain and suffering claim, through open and frequent communication with you, to ensure that the insurance company is presented with the full picture of how the accident has affected you and your family.

Causes of Traumatic Brain Injuries and Concussions

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) and concussions can occur because of a jolt, blow or penetration of the skull. Lack of oxygen to the brain can lead to acquired brain injury (ABI).

Some Preventable Accidents That May Cause TBI or ABI Are:

  • Cycling accidents — Wearing a helmet can help protect your head from injury during a bicycle accident. The type of helmet and how it fits are important, as well.
  • Vehicle accidents — Whether they involve a car, truck, motorcycle or commercial vehicle, vehicle accidents are a leading cause of traumatic brain injury.
  • Dog attacks — Your head may be injured by a canine’s powerful jaws, claws or the sheer force of its weight knocking you to the ground during a dog attack.
  • Pool accidents — Brain cells begin to die within minutes of suffering cerebral hypoxia in a swimming pool accident.
  • Construction accidents — Construction accidents can cause brain damage when a victim is struck in the head by an object or falls from a ladder, scaffold, or other high location.
  • Farming accidents — You are at risk of TBI if you work around heavy agricultural equipment.
  • Violence — Assaults cause about 10 percent of head injuries.

Symptoms of Concussions

If you’ve lost consciousness, vomited, or became disoriented following an accident, there is a good chance you suffered a concussion. Other symptoms include nausea, head and neck pain, dizziness, fatigue, mood changes, irritability, and insomnia.

When any of these symptoms are present immediately following an accident, or in the days or weeks that follow, it is important to get medical attention immediately.  This is critical for your health, but also, it provides important documentation that could make or break your personal injury claim.

Symptoms of Brain Damage

Even a seemingly minor blow to the head from a fall or auto accident may turn out to be serious. You may not even know you suffered a severe injury until many days or weeks later, because symptoms do not, necessarily, appear right away. For this reason, it is extremely important to seek prompt medical attention if you are hit in the head or suffer any trauma to your head.

Mild brain damage, including a concussion, may cause memory loss, cognitive difficulties, headaches and mood changes. Severe brain damage can lead to seizures, altered states of consciousness, coma or death.
